Sex addiction proves to be a losing battle for David Duchovny and Téa LeoniLeoni and Duchovny, who were married for 17 years, filed for divorce in June and cited "an irretrievable breakdown" as the reason for their permanent separation, according to TMZ via People magazine. A source close to the couple also confirmed with People that the couple actually split months ago.
Although Leoni will have primary physical custody of their two children, Kyd, 12, and Madelaine, 15, the two entertainers will share joint custody of their offspring. Duchovny will be required to pay $8,000 a month in child support, along with a whopping $40,000 a month in spousal support. In addition to the monthly support, the former X-Files star will also be required to pay for his children's educational expenses.
Duchovny and Leoni's marriage has been a public roller-coaster ride since August 2008, when Duchovny entered a rehab facility to treat sex addiction. "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," the Californication actor said at the time in a statement through his lawyer. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
